DAN'S STORY

Half carat green sapphire and diamond trefoil engagement ring, in 18ct yellow gold.

Dan came to us through a recommendation, and wanted to keep correspondence covert and entirely through Whatsapp, as this was to be a surprise proposal.

Dan’s partner had, rather handily, pointed out a style she loved and so Dan made a mental note for when the time came. He knew that she wanted something petite and delicate, with a green central stone, in yellow gold. The rest was up to us, how exciting!

We immediately set about searching for the perfect green sapphire. As sapphire scores an 8 on the Moh’s scale of hardness, it makes for a much more robust option than many of its green rivals, and with this being a ring to be worn daily for life, we wanted to make sure that it stood the test of time.

We found a simply beautiful half carat round cut sapphire, in the most alluring shade of rich regal green. It was such a playful stone in the light, displaying a spectrum of shades, and so we kept the design minimal in a classic trefoil, allowing plenty of light in.

With three F/Vs round brilliant cut diamonds either side, we set the entire ring in 18ct yellow gold, claws included, as the warmth of the gold accentuated the richness of the green and allowed the brilliant white diamonds to pop.

We particularly love the side profile of this ring, with its curvaceous baskets fanning into a tiara.

And of course, she said ‘Yes!’.
